Nitro Racer XD V1.28B Available Now!

Update comes with a lot of fixes and more activities. Now you can Fight a Zombie, Collect crystal as much as you can, Find a gift, Drift Mode, and Summon bosses. Of course, Multiplayer mode too…

Hello everybody!

Recently I just made an update. Probably a several update, but it has a lot of differences between Version 1.2A. I just received a bug report from myself, that when Halloween is over, the Seasonal Mode CORE gone crazy, banning people to choosing character just because they can’t find deactivated object. I immediately made an emergency update that should be release on early November, but I have slow internet connection, so I have to speed up the update.

I also got a request from Sablicious, that I should made a Multiplayer Mode. And now your wishes come true. But however, I disabled ‘Ready’ function so people can’t enter Multiplayer arena. You can only enter the Lobby. Yeah, I have to working on Multiplayer function. So it probably going to fully working on December or January update. I’m very busy doing my next game.

REMEMBER! Since I was live in South East Asia, the server was located on Japan. So I could speed up the development. And PLUS! This update ONLY available for Full version users. Because if I give this version free, my cloud server will explode. My server only support for 20CCU. Yeah, since this game wasn’t really popular at all, also the full version users only 10, and I also haven’t got even $0 from this project.

Heyo everybody.

I received a bug report that you’ll have a NullReference Bug if you update from V1.08A to V1.2A or V1.1D directly. Deleting user data are very recommended. But Delete User Data if you had a problem with story mode. Deleting user data can be done in Main Menu > Settings > Delete User Data.

So, the Seasonal Mode will be added soon (Just got this idea yesterday). Seasonal Mode, means a mode where you can only access on a certain month or date. Halloween Seasonal Mode is Crushing A zombie as many as you can, and Smashing Pumpkin. Christmas Seasonal Mode is Sending a gift. And many more!
So, on the next update, There would be more modes, not just Arcade Mode and Drift Mode. But Plus Seasonal Mode and Challenge mode.

I know last version was very bad. In this version, I already fixed all your problems on Comments and Reviews.
This is the requested updates

About the Graphic issue, I can’t fix it. Because I’m using Unity3D Indie and I’m not a $$$$$$$$$$ game studio, just a school student. If you really want this game has an epic graphic, you can give me your Unity Pro.
Anyways, this is the updates.

  • ADDED 2 New character. One is a ” Thank You ” character and an ” Update ” Character.
  • ADDED Night mode feature. Driving in a night with high speed is a joy.
  • ADDED Drift feature! (As Requested by sashusambar ) Real drift, drift, grip, or real grip. Some cars may not support real drift (it may lost some grips)
  • Cuber Icon was CHANGED.
  • Meme Placeholder ads CHANGED to Original Ads. (As Requested by villevalohart +negatronnn)
  • CHANGED cloth shader from Particles > Alpha Blended to Alpharized Shadow (Custom Shader). And now it looks more clothlike.
  • CHANGED smooth follow linecasted distance. Now the camera shouldn’t touch the wall.
  • TWEAKED the difficulty of the AI. (As requested by psychicparrot). I thought the AI was too easy. Well, my friend said so.
  • CHANGED the value on skidding. I think it’s too loud when skidding, especially on Drifting.
  • FIXED Brake is now fully functionable. Earlier version’s brake was seems very useless. (As requested by sashusambar )
  • REMOVED Git-R feature. Now you can reverse and then accelerate without having problem with the transmission. (As requested by villevalohart )
  • SAVED Level Load Fade V2 from NullReference bug. On earlier version, they were cried for hidden pause menu on main menu because they can’t find it.
  • FIXED Major bug on Character Selection menu. Earlier version was just like this, if you unlock one secret character, then you’ll unlock all characters.
  • FIXED Texture problems (From 2.5MB / character to 500KB / character). It saves a lot of hard disk spaces.
  • FIXED Vertex’s kart texture. (As Requested by villevalohart +negatronnn)
  • FIXED secret character bug on character selection menu (they just got unexpectedly blackout).
  • FIXED some view problem on Skypapa, and Neville.
  • FIXED sound pitch bug on kart engines.
  • FIXED waypoint absent checker. Now it just support more than 40 characters.
  • And many more. I don’t know….

Nitro Racer XD kart competition is now open! There are more than 8 character were joined this competition and three banned character also joined this. You may ask how long is the competition. Well, it’s more than 60 races with track length at least 3 Km. Races in 7 different themes and defeat 6 tracklords so you can go to other portal. You can also upgrade your kart’s engine, tires, NOS limit. You’ll need to upgrade your kart, because the other player will never ever let you win.

With a Physics based kart that can run about 78 Kmh, can you win more than 60 races in this competition ?

Helepolis has a mission to Lagexina Solar System. While he was in the middle of Authasica Solar System and in above of Conhael planet, his spaceship suddenly ran out of fuel, then he was falling to Conhael planet.

He didn’t bring any money there, and he only have a kart. Because he need that kart for that mission. He asked Alex about where can he found money, and Alex recommends him to join Turbulence Cup. Helepolis decided to join Turbulence Cup and expect he can win that race. He needs money to fix his spaceship and do the mission.

He didn’t really listen to the rules, and finally, he lost the competition (his kart is destroyed). Why did he lost ? Someone use TNT, and he accidentally hit it, and he don’t know how to avoid the TNT. and then TNT explodes! He yells that the players was cheating.

Then, he was branded as “The Slowest Chicken” by Vertex. Helepolis so sad, and he was hoping that one day he could defeat Vertex. One day, Vertex saw Helepolis practicing in Turbulence Desert with his signature kart named “PaperKart”. Vertex laughed him so hard. But Helepolis didn’t respond Vertex and continue driving.

The Next day, Helepolis’ kart was stolen by Vertex. Helepolis also became mad and want to defeat Vertex, but however, he hasn’t a kart now. All of his friend became so sad, and they decided to make a new kart for Helepolis named “Stomp Kart”.

Then, Helepolis joins the latest competitions named “Nitro Racer XD”. Vertex surprised that Helepolis has a new kart. However, Vertex still underestimates Helepolis. Vertex bets his kart and $10,000 as a reward for winner, and the race begins on Accelerated Graphic Port.

On final lap, Helepolis still lead, and Vertex couldn’t chase him. Then, Vertex decided to cheating by glitching or destroying the track colliders. Vertex seems a little bit unlucky today. That’s true, Vertex is leading, but he’s stuck at the Heat Sink Fan section and he keeps trying to glitching back to the track. Well, Helepolis now leading, and it just a few kilometers to the finish line. Vertex cheated again, now Vertex was really far from the finish line. Helepolis won the race!

Vertex don’t want to give him the rewards, Vertex also said that Helepolis was cheating by not using Nitro Engine (He was use Sunfire Engine). Helepolis and his entire friend can’t do anything but rematch from first to last.

I’m going to try to be nice when I say this but I can only sugar-coat so much, so….

Your game isn’t very good. At all.

I tried your demo and in the first 2 minutes I ran into major glitches regarding controls, the worst being that half the time I’d reverse back a small distance, try to then drive foward; the game ignored my keypresses and continued reversing at full speed.

The handling is incredibly awkward on all the cars, and they have a tendancy to jitter about when driving. I even had the physics glitch out completely for a few seconds when I hit some boxes, and had to restart the game because the boxes had become stuck in my car.

Graphics-wise, your 3D assets are extremely crude and amatuerish. Many textures aren’t even properly centred on their object. And what textures are mapped correctly look quite poor, especially on the vehicles themselves.

Your starting area is covered in memes, and pictures that are copywritten or owned by someone other than you. This is a pretty bad idea in a for-profit game; you could be sued or cease-and-desist’ed.

I could list more things but I’m running out of text. Bottom line is, you shouldn’t be selling this game. You should be passing it around to as many different people as possible (no, friends don’t count – unless they’re very honest and blunt they won’t tell you your game sucks, to not upset you), and absorbing any and all feedback you get, negative or positive. Then, make another game. Get better at it, and do it again.

Once again, I’m not trying to attack you here. I’m just going to be honest and say that this is a very unpolished, unprofessional, ugly game that you should file under “Learning Experience”. Definitely not under “Sell for $5”.

P.S – I read your blog. Refer to what I said when you think again about why you didn’t win. It has something to do with presentation and polish.


[Tutorial] Semi Realistic Rain Effect with Shuriken

Works with Unity Indie too. At least Unity 3.5. I use Unity4 Pro Trial.

I found this relatively cool effect with Shuriken.It works with any terrain, and very fast! I search on google about how to make a rain effect in Unity, and all the result are long and difficult. I also check how is the rain effect in Angry Botz, they use a script to generate a rain ! And my reaction of those two was ” AIN’T NOBODY GOT TIME FO DAT!”

With this, you can make semi realistic rain effect in just 5 minutes.

  1. First, go make a Particle System in Game Object > Create Other > Particle System. Set the rotation to 90,0,0

  3. Set the start Lifetime to 3 (It’s according how far you put the particle system with the terrain), set the Start Speed to 10, Start Size to 1, Start Color to 192,192,192,255, Max Particles to 10000 (according how large is your place), and rate to 3500 (according how large is your place).

  5. Set the shape to Box, and set the X and Y according to your scene range.

  7. On renderer, set the Render Mode to Stretched Billboard, and length scale set it to 5.

  9. Now set the speed of rain. Set The Velocity over life time on Y axis to -30. and the space is World

  11. Let’s set the collision layer now. Select your object to collide (Not all object! because it’ll be very slow, just important objects! like terrain, platform, or buildings). Mine is NoShadowDuo. what’s yours ? (ignore that static)

  13. Now back to particle system and turn on the collision. Set the space to World (it says Plane as default). Slow huh ? I know right ? Set the bounce to 0, and lifetime loss to 1, Set the Collide with Nothing, then set it again to your collision layer (mine is NoShadowDuo). Set the collision Quality to Low and Voxel Size to 5. Much faster.

  15. Turn on Sub Emitter, press Plus button on Death particle System.

  17. On sub emitter object, turn on Color over lifetime, and set it 255 alpha on 80% and 0 alpha on 100%

  19. On sub emitter object, set the renderer material to water splash (if you have a water assets. It available on Unity > particles assets)

How it looks like if i have Unity Pro

I’m just wondering, how my game (Nitro Racer XD) will looks like if i have Unity Pro, so i just use 30 days Unity Pro trial, and this is the result.

What do you think ? I only make changes on the graphic, i don’t have time to make a changes on CORE such as AI use NavMesh, and environment use Occlusion Portal.

Yeah, if you could just give me Unity Pro, that’d be great!
